Solly March and Pascal Groß are back!
Brighton’s best ever player is returning to the club on Sunday to officially say his goodbyes. Let’s just hope Pascal Groß gets to see the Seagulls win on his return to the Amex. Before that fixture though, let’s get caught up on all the latest Brighton news from the last seven days.
Transfer News
Incoming Transfers
Juanlu Sánchez - Brighton bid for Sevilla right back
According to Mundo Deportivo (via Sport Witness) Sevilla right back Juanlu Sánchez. If that name sounds familiar, it is because it should. Brighton reportedly tried to sign the 21-year-old in January and were monitoring his situation over the summer. I even wrote about him in a Brighton transfer targets piece for another site.
This most recent report says the Seagulls submitted a bid for Sánchez after clubs like Liverpool, Arsenal, and West Ham expressed their interest in the player. Most reports claim it would take close to €25m (£20.9m) to sign the Olympics winner. Brighton have an existing relationship with Sevilla with Valentin Barco there on loan.
Outgoing Transfers
Adam Webster - Linked to Wolves, failed summer transfer revealed
After Adam Webster’s poor performance against Chelsea, rumors circulated on Twitter that Wolves tried to sign the Englishman over the summer. Multiple Wolverhampton reporters have confirmed these rumors, but some disagree about the extent to which there was a “done deal” for the defender.
Whatever the case, Express & Star reporters Nathan Judah and Liam Keen claim there was real interest from Wolves in Webster and that the club could go in for him again in January.
Yasin Ayari - Seagulls rejected bids from FC Copenhagen this summer
According to Swedish outlet FotbollDirekt, Danish side FC Copenhagen made multiple attempts to sign Yasin Ayari from Brighton last summer. The Seagulls responded with a “flat no.”
Interestingly, Copenhagen then turned their sights on Yasin Ayari’s brother, Taha, who plays for AIK in Sweden—the same club Brighton bought Yasin from. However, Taha suffered an ACL injury before any deal could be agreed to.
